DUNMAN SECONDARY SCHOOL BADGE ISSUE - OUR STATEMENT

Dear Ex-Dunmanites,

After a thorough discussion with those directly involved with the change in the school badge, we, together with the School Advisory Committee (SAC) and the Parent Support Group (PSG), the Dunman Secondary Alumni (DSA) members have acquired a better understanding and perspective of the matter. We support and endorse the move on the change of the school badge.

In terms of status and academic performance, Dunman Secondary has come a long way since its inception in 1963. Today, Dunman Secondary is a Band 2 school, which is on par with SAP and other popular choice schools. Such achievements could only be attained collectively through the constant hard work and commitment of the leaders, staff and students. It demonstrates a successful formula undertaken by the team, which has the school’s interests at heart.

As a support group, we play a supportive role. We aspire to give the school all the necessary backing it needs in developing the potential of its students to a higher level of success.

The recent school badge episode has thrust Dunman Secondary into the limelight with both positive and negative impact. Nobody anticipated the decision made would eventually result in stress and worry for its management, staff and students alike. We have met with the School Principal, MOE Officials, SAC and PSG, and affirmed that the reason behind the move was not merely change for the sake of change. The teachers and students are strongly aware that the change is to shape and reaffirm the direction that the school is headed. We are consoled by the fact that the interests of the school have always come first.

We urge ex-Dunmanites to visit the school’s new campus, and see for themselves its laudable transformations and achievements. You will gain greater insights through your interactions with the students, teachers, and leaders of the school. It is our desire that you would give Dunman Secondary your unreserved support.

In the light of the recent publicity, we hope ex-Dunmanites would unite with the DSA and support the school wholeheartedly.

Yours sincerely,

DUNMAN SECONDARY ALUMNI
